Open Air Museum
|
The
Breede River (Wide River) Valley between spectacular mountain ranges
includes the biggest wine-producing district in the country. Visit the

| THE
OVERBERG / CAPE AGULHAS TOUR
|
|
The Overberg (Over the Mountain) is the most southerly
region in Africa, the southern tip of the continent being Cape Agulhas,
where the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet. Inland we encounter wild
flowers, wheatfields and the centre of the sheep farming industry. The
mission station at Genadendal (Vale of Mercy) has been declared a national
treasure.

Karoo Scene
|
The
clear air and vast expanse of the semi-desert Karoo region has a charm of
it's own. Visit the old-world Matjiesfontein village, once a British
military base, and the Boer war graveyard near by. South Africa's major
astronomical observatory is situated at Sutherland, to take advantage of
the clear skies. In the Karoo National Park you can see the rare Cape
Mountain Zebra, and the progress in an attempt to replicate the extinct
Quagga.

| ROUTE
62 - THE KLEIN KAROO TOUR
|
|
Scenic Route 62 takes you through the "Klein Karoo" (Small Karoo), a region not quite as arid as the Karoo itself. Between two
mountain ranges you pass through a variety of agricultural activities and
interesting country towns. Reaching Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital, we
visit the spectacular, world famous Cango Caves.

 Knysna
Lagoon
|
The
natural beauty of the "Garden Route", a green and forested
coastal strip between the mountains and the sea, makes this one of South
Africa's most popular tours. Starting from Mossel Bay with its interesting
Dias museum, some of the highlights are: the Wilderness (our lakes
district), the Knysna lagoon with its dramatic access to the sea, the
unspoilt beaches, and the Tsitsikamma forest and coastal nature reserve.
This stretch of the coastline is known as the "Paradise Coast".

| EASTERN
CAPE WILDLIFE TOURS & SAFARIS
|
|
The friendly city of Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape
boasts several great beaches and entertainment options, and has much to
offer of historical interest as the landing site of the 1820 British
settlers. From here, we have a choice of many Game Reserves and Parks to
visit. The Eastern Cape is fast becoming a wildlife "hotspot" and is totally malaria-free. Shamwari, voted the best private game
reserve in the world, offers an exciting "big five" experience.

 The
Ecology Shrine, Hogsback
|
This
tour takes us through "the land of the brave", settler country,
and we visit Grahamstown with its cathedrals and churches, the quaint
observatory museum with a "camera obscura". We drive through
some of the settler villages in pineapple country, visit Port Alfred on
the Kowie River and then drive inland to the village of Hogsback in the
Amatola Mountains. Here we enjoy a relaxing stroll through indigenous
forests and see stunning waterfalls, or visit the "Ecology
Shrine". The tour takes us to the village of Alice and Fort Hare
University, alma mater of Nelson Mandela.
|
|
The Wild Coast tour starts from East London, South
Africa's only "river port" on the Buffalo River. We drive into
the hinterland, the "Transkei", and divert back to the coast to
Coffee Bay, visiting the spectacular "Hole in the Wall". The
next day takes us back inland to Umtata, where we visit the Nelson Mandela
museum. We drive on through traditional African villages to beautiful Port
St Johns, and then continue to the Wild Coast Sun resort.
|
 Hole In
The Wall
|
|
A wonderful African experience. We visit Cradock, see
Bushman rock art and the Mountain Zebra National Park, home of the very
rare mountain zebra. The next day we visit the village of New Bethesda,
and see the curious "Owl House". We go on to Graaff Reinet with
its many historical buildings, and drive through the Valley of Desolation
with its unique dolerite rock pillars.
