Detailed Itinerary of the 5 Days Kidepo Wildlife Safari Uganda

Day 1 of the 5 days Kidepo National Park safari Uganda: Transfer to Kitgum

Your guide will pick you up for a transfer drive to Kitgum. Considering the journey requires about 11 hours; pick up has to be as early as possible. Your journey will start at 7:00 am after an early breakfast, and your journey to Kitgum will start. Kidepo National Park is far placed-north east, bordering Kenya to the east and South Sudan to the north.

The journey can be very exhausting to drive directly to the park making it necessary to break the journey into two, which is Kampala to Kitgum and then Kitgum to the park, the distance from Kitgum to the park is not very long but the road is rough. You will have stopovers along the way to stretch or for breakfast or lunch.

Lunch will be in Gulu town and arrive in Kitgum later afternoon and check in to your hotel and then later dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 of the 5 Days Kidepo Safari Uganda: Transfer to Kidepo National Park, Game Drive

The next morning, of your 5 days safari to Kidepo Valley National Park, wake up to an early breakfast and embark on 3 hours drive to Kidepo National Park where you will embark on a game drive in the Kidepo Valley in the anticipation of seeing herds of buffalos, zebras, elephants, giraffes, hyenas, and cheetahs.

You will enjoy a slow drive. Make sure the camera is ready to take some picture moments while on the game drive as you can have stops at any point you so want. Break off for the day and head straight to the lodge. You can spend the rest of the day for leisure admiring the wilderness environment. Dinner and overnight follow

Day 3 of the 5 Days Kidepo Safari: Full day Game Drives

This is the busiest day of your trip and so a lot of activities are lined up for this day and includes a morning game drive and a cultural walk.

Very early in the morning breakfast will do you good before you hit the road. When breakfast is done, you will set off for another breathtaking and rewarding early morning game drive through the open savannah, rocky outcrops, forests, and rings of mountains.

Drive extensively up to Kanangorok Hot springs and brace yourself for photo moments and chances of sighting more wildlife, especially lions sitting on the rocks as they scan the park for possible prey. Drive back to the lodge to relax and lunch

In the afternoon, head out for a cultural tour of the Karamojong people for a truly unique experience. The Karamojong culture is still pure and unique from most other tribes in Uganda.

Their livelihood has less been affected by civilization and western cultures. The Karamojong are predominantly pastoralists and live purposely on cattle farming.

They are a very interesting group of people with a very strong and unique culture visible from their way of dressing, cooking, dancing, and other daily life activities. A visit to the Karamojong is truly a rewarding experience you should look forward to

Later transfer back to the lodge for dinner and overnight

Day 4 of the 5 Days Kidepo National Park Safari Uganda: Game Drive and Transfer to Kitgum

Early in the morning after breakfast, we shall hit the road for another game drive. As they always say every stepping into the game park is a different experience. No game drive is the same in the parks.

Every day presents itself differently and with different sightings. You will spot as many wild animals on this game drive. Return to the lodge to check out and transfer to Kitgum where you will have your lunch and spend the rest of the day relaxing.

It’s optional that the return from the park you may opt for Gulu and not Kitgum for a short night stay. Later dinner and overnight

Day 5 of the 5 days Kidepo Safari: Return to Kampala

On the last day of your trip, you shall have breakfast relatively morning hours and proceed to Kampala with lunch en-route arriving in Kampala late afternoon or evening. You can decide to head directly to your hotel or transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your flight back home.
